My Dear Friends,
Its GREAT to be back in Corpus Christi!
Yesterday was a travel day from Rome.
While it was a long trip, it gave me the opportunity to reflect back on my visit Ad Limina Apostolorum and the countless blessings Our Lord has given to me both while in Rome and as the Bishop of Corpus Christi.
To sum up on the activities and visits during the Ad Limina, the following are the different Congregations, Tribunals, and Councils of the Roman Curia:
Congregations
Doctrine of the Faith (Prefect – William Joseph Cardinal Levada)
Divine Worship & the Discipline of the Sacraments (Prefect – Antonio Canizares Cardinal Llovera)
Bishops (Prefect – Marc Cardinal Ouellet, PSS)
Clergy (Prefect – Mauro Cardinal Piacenza)
Institutes of Consecrated Life & Societies of Apostolic Life (Prefect – Joao Braz Cardinal De Aviz)
Catholic Education (Prefect – Zenon Cardinal Grocholewski)
Tribunals
Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura (Prefect – Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke)
Pontifical Councils
Promoting Christian Unity & Jewish Relations (President – Kurt Cardinal Koch)
Family (President – Ennio Cardinal Antonelli)
Promoting the New Evangelization (President – Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella)
As you can see, we were able to accomplish quite a bit during our time in Rome. All the meetings were beneficial and allowed for the Region X bishops to ask particular questions relative to our area of the United States.
In the upcoming postings, I will be sharing the discussions of the various meetings and the competencies of each office we visited.
